Just wrapped up my first visit to CABSAT 2025, and left with a head full of thoughts.
I treated this like an exercise in clarity.
Not a showcase. Not a networking marathon.
A field opportunity to observe how real products, real teams, and real workflows are evolving under pressure.
So let’s talk about what stood out.
Let’s start with newsrooms - from content planning to broadcast orchestration, it’s clear the future of newsroom tech is converging around a few key ideas:
- Story-first workflows (content-centric)
- AI as an embedded assistant (still surface-level)
- Integration and UX as the real competitive frontier
What interested me most weren’t the product tours or pitch decks, but how teams talked about their product:
- How teams talked about their product
- Where excitement lived in the roadmap
- How decisions around workflow structure reflect deep beliefs about how people collaborate under pressure
As someone obsessed with simplifying systems and aligning product strategy with real-world messiness, this was gold.
It’s energizing to step outside your own ecosystem every now and then.
The signals are everywhere. Different industries, same questions.
The edge lies in knowing how to listen.
